Martin A Smith Hand Wound Modern Strat Pickup Set White
To solve the common complaint about traditional vintage style sets being too bright in the bridge position, I have paired classic vintage style Stratocaster pickups in the neck and middle positions, with a more modern higher output bridge pickup.
The neck and bridge are wound with 42awg formvar to approximately 6.2k and 6.4k for a chimey vintage tone.
The bridge is wound with thinner 43awg formvar to 10.5k, to soften the top-end, and increase the mids and volume to help create a better balance across the three pickups.
All three positions use staggered and bevelled A5 magnets and have that signature Strat "quack" in positions 2 and 4.
As standard these pickups are not wax potted to achieve a more open and detailed sound.

About the Sound Centre
Sound Centre was established in 1986 by a group of Western Australian musicians who wanted to provide a music store that would understand and cater to the needs of other musicians. From humble beginnings as a small shop and a few rehearsal rooms, Sound Centre has grown into Perth’s most extensive music store in terms of space, instrument range and musical expertise.
